Message from the President

Ohmura Sogyo was founded in 1903 by my grandmother's eldest sister, Chie Ohmura, and her husband, Ichitaro, at the Port of Yokohama, the renowned birthplace of modern Japanese trade. Originally known as Ohmura-gumi Kaisoten, we provided shipping services for import and export cargo, as well as land-based transportation. At the very dawn of Japan’s economic rise, I am proud to say that our company embarked on its journey with strong determination and big dreams to support Japan in becoming a leading trade nation.

In 1953, exactly half a century after our founding, Chie Ohmura’s younger brother, Ryuzo Ohmura, and my grandfather, Keizo Ishii, took over the operations of her former clients and began a new chapter under the company name Ohmura-gumi. They moved our head office from Yokohama to Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Fuji—a well-renowned World Heritage Site.

Since then, we have expanded and enhanced our services to meet our customers’ needs by establishing offices in Yokohama, Fuji, Numazu, and Iwata in Shizuoka Prefecture, as well as Otawara in Tochigi Prefecture.

After changing our company name to Ohmura Sogyo in 1973, we have steadily grown into a well-established and integrated logistics company.

As we celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2003, we re-entered the customs clearance business, which had been one of our main areas of focus at the time of our founding. Today, I can confidently say that we have developed our services across wide-ranging fields as an international logistics and packing company, both in name and substance.
